Pirate tennis loses twice
Port Washington High School’s tennis team lost its two matches last week.
On Aug. 30, Homestead won, 7-0. On Aug. 28, Rufus King won, 6-0. Due to rain, the No. 1 singles match didn’t finish.
Coach Melonie Zielinski said No. 1 singles player Kaylee Doll played well against the Highlanders.
“She hit her groundstrokes with pace and moved her opponent all around the court,” she said.
At No. 1 doubles, Chloe and Tess Schueller used lobs and high-bouncers to change up the pace and prevent attacks at the net, she said.
Port will host West Bend East on Thursday.
