Pirate swimmers lose to Hartford/Slinger

Port Washington High School’s swim team lost to North Shore Conference opponent Hartford/Slinger at home on Aug. 28, 128 to 41.

Freshman Kamryn Lapacek won two events, and sophomore Sydney Hannert earned a second and third place. Senior Elaina Wichmann got a third place.

Lapacek won the 50-meter freestyle in 28.54 seconds and won the 100 freestyle in 1:03.09.

Hannert dropped six seconds in the 100 butterfly to take second in 1:11.87.

The 200 medley relay team of Wichmann, Hannert, sophomore Erin Grisa and Lapacek dropped four seconds off of their time and finished third in 2:13.57.

Wichmann took third in the 100 backstroke in 1:17.83.

“Our second meet came quickly on the heels of our first and the girls are already showing significant improvement,” co-coach Danielle Peiffer said.

“The Hartford/Slinger team was a great group of girls and we enjoyed pushing ourselves against some tough competition. There was great sportsmanship between the two teams, and we enjoyed having them at our pool.”

Port is scheduled to host NSC foe Nicolet at 6 p.m. Thursday.

They swim at Cedarburg at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, and host an invitational on Saturday, Sept. 15.

Diving starts at 8 a.m. and swimming at 1 p.m.
