Pirate swimmers barely edge friendly rival Grafton

Left, Grafton’s Libbie Coleman and Aaliyah Pecor yelled encouragement to a teammate during the dual meet. The Pirates pulled out a 94-88 win. Port’s Edynn Strube won the 50-yard freestyle in 28.15 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 1 minute, 1.18 seconds. Laylah Henschel won the 100 breaststroke in 1:22.59. Port got seven second-places: Maddie Mellesmoen, diving, 157.6 points; Ellie Knepfel, 200 freestyle, 2:28.83; Anna Nisiewicz, 100 butterfly, 1:15.03; Lily Kerbel, 100 backstroke, 1:15.58; the 200 freestyle relay of Teagan Zuraw, Henschel, Nisiewicz and Strube, 1:56.64; the 200 medley relay of Kerbel, Henschel, Knepfel and Drue Nelson, 2:20.59; and the 400 freestyle relay of Nisiewicz, Nelson, Kerbel and Strube, 4:26.76.
