Photographer’s work in full bloom at center

Photographer Phyllis Bankier will be featured as artist in residence through July at Cedarburg Cultural Center.

Bankier, a self-taught photographer who specializes in floral photos and landscapes, will set up shop at the center on select Fridays and Saturdays throughout July to share tricks of the trade and offer demos of her work.

Bankier’s portfolio has landed her in multiple judged exhibitions in which she received first place awards or honorable mentions in multiple categories.

“While composing the world through the camera lens and capturing those special moments or scenes, my camera has always been there,” Bankier said in a press release.

Bankier will be at the center from noon to 4 p.m on July 2, 3, 17, 23, 24 and 30.

Bankier will also be teaching a workshop titled “It’s Not Your Camera, It’s Your Eye!” from 9 to 11 a.m., July 6, in the center’s large classroom.

Throughout the class Bankier will teach participants how to compose beautiful floral photos before taking them out in the field to put their knowledge to use.

Students will need to bring their own camera and a tripod if desired.

The class fee is $30 for cultural center members and $36 for non-members.

Class sizes will be limited so those who are interested are encouraged to register early.
