PHOTO OP-ED: Paddling in memory of a young man who loved the river

Canoeing enthusiasts gathered amid the sylvan beauty of the Milwaukee River at Waubedonia Park in the Town of Fredonia on June 28 to honor a kindred spirit. The paddlers were taking part in the Ryan Tesch Canoe Run, named after a Saukville resident who died at the age of 23 of injuries suffered in a car crash in 2004. It was a hot but beautiful summer day for the annual event held on the placid river flowing slowly between wooded banks, likely just the sort of day on the river when Tesch, an avid canoeist, would have been seen paddling downstream.
