Peggy Maynard

Peggy Maynard, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, peacefully passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, at Lincoln Village, where she was a resident. She was 82 years old.
Peggy was born on April 25, 1943, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Francis and Eileen (nee Boland) Mulroy.
She spent her formative years in the Chicago area and graduated from Palatine High School. Peggy then pursued a bachelor’s degree in education at Alverno College in Milwaukee. She taught in the Milwaukee Public School system.
On Oct. 26, 1968, Peggy married John Maynard at St. Rita’s Catholic Parish in West Allis. Together they created a loving home. She supported her children in their various activities throughout the years, spending countless hours rooting them on from the sidelines.
After becoming a mother, Peggy worked part time at Columbia Hospital as a unit secretary and later as church secretary at Plymouth Church in Milwaukee. When the children were older, Peggy returned to a full-time position, dedicating many years to her role as a benefits clerk at Johnson Controls.
Peggy was a former member of St. Robert’s Catholic Parish in Shorewood and a current member of St. John XXIII Catholic Parish in Port Washington. She found joy in being part of the Port Washington Senior Center, where she connected with others and enjoyed the Chicks with Sticks knitting group, Wii bowling and bocce.
Over the years, she and John enjoyed travelling, taking several cruises, including to the Caribbean and Alaska, as well as bus tours with the senior center group. She was an avid reader, often lost in the pages of a good book, and she was happy knitting, sewing and creating beaded jewelry. Quirky though it may seem, Peggy also loved to put on a Cary Grant movie and spend a couple hours ironing on a weekend afternoon. Until her last days, you could always count on Peggy to have chocolate on hand.
Peggy is survived by her three children, Elizabeth (Chris) Zurich of Pittsburgh, Penn., Joan (Jon) Reik of Cedarburg and Kevin Maynard of Port Washington. She is further survived by five loving grandchildren, Sean, Calen and Eiley Zurich and Anna and Liza Reik; her two sisters, Eileen (Kearn) Lee of Silver Spring, Md., and Maureen Mulroy of Madison, Wis.; her sister-in-law Diann Mulroy of Bel-Aire, Fla.; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Francis and Eileen, her husband John and her brother Patrick Mulroy.
In accordance with Peggy’s wishes, private family services will be held at St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery in Port Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Portal Inc. in Grafton.
Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, is honored to serve the Maynard family.
