Pauline Underhill

Pauline M. Underhill, 74, died of pancreatic cancer at her home in West Bend Tuesday, Feb. 19.

Mrs. Underhill was born in Sheboygan on May 12, 1944, to Norbert and Mary Felix Heiting. The family moved to Port Washington when she was a child.

While working at Globe Union Battery Plant in Milwaukee, she met Donald Underhill. The couple married on Dec. 21, 1974.

Mrs. Underhill was the director of Christian formation at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg.

The Underhills lived in Cedarburg and Port Washington before retiring to Rhinelander in 2000. Mr. Underhill preceded his wife in death on June 28, 2013.

Her family said she was kind and thoughtful, and after retiring served as a chaplain at the Rhinelander hospital. Mrs. Underhill loved being “up north” and enjoyed nature, playing golf and biking.

In 2018, she moved to West Bend to be closer to family.

Mrs. Underhill is survived by her daughter Teresa (Kurt) Hanson of Portland, Ore.; siblings John (JoAnne) Heiting of Columbia, S.C., Mary Ann Cleary of West Bend, Merin Heiting of Hartford, Gerard Heiting of Milwaukee and Marilyn (Dennis) Duffy of Elkhart Lake; and granddaughter Emily Hanson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday, Feb. 25, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. Father Pat Heppe presided.

Interment was at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Washington.

Poole Funeral Home, Port Washington, handled the arrangements.
