Paul runs in NCAA title race

Cedar Grove-Belgium High School alumnae Lily Paul has continued her family’s tradition of running excellence in college.

The Minnesota State senior qualified for last month’s NCAA Division II Women’s Cross Country Championship in Pittsburgh.

Paul finished the 6-kilometer course in 24 minutes, 53.9 seconds, good for 145th place of 264 runners. Sarah Berger of Grand Valley state won in 22:07.1.

Paul ran in the WIAA state title race all four years of high school, taking ninth, 19th, 22nd and 74th.

She is the daughter of former Cedar Grove-Belgium cross country and track and field coach Les Paul and the younger sister of star runners Ali,  Marina, who both attended Minnesota State, and the older sister of Chloe.

Lily Paul is majoring in engineering.
