Pandemic cancels April 25 Drug Take Back Day

National Drug Take Back Day, which was originally scheduled for April 25, has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, unwanted prescription drugs may still be disposed of at drug disposal boxes. Many of these are located at area police stations and at some area pharmacies.
Attorney General Josh Kaul also suggests storing medications in a safe or locked storage with limited access.
Unused or expired medication should not be flushed or poured down the drain since wastewater treatment plants are not designed to remove them and trace amounts of these drugs are showing up in rivers and lakes.
