Ozaukee UW-Madison Extension welcomes two new educators

A new educator has joined the University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension Ozaukee County Office and another will start work later this month.

Colleen Machut became the 4-H program educator in the Ozaukee County office on Jan. 29.

Paul Roback, a veteran of the UW Extension program, will return to the Ozaukee County office as its community development educator starting Feb. 19.

Machut has 12 years of teaching experience in the dramatic arts, humanities and sciences. She has also mentored new and experienced educators and developed curriculums.

In 2019, she received the Teacher of the Year Award in the Sheboygan Area School District.

Machut has experience in volunteer management, recruiting and training, and in addition to her work as a teacher she is the founder, artistic director and volunteer coordinator of the Sheboygan-based Live Forever Project, an organization dedicated to preserving the memories of elders through the arts.

She is a classically trained vocalist, published poet and writes songs.

Machut has a degree in education from UW-Stevens Point.

Roback will return to the Ozaukee County office after beginning his 22-year Extension career there in 2001.

As a county-based community development educator, he has helped more than 100 nonprofit organizations, coalitions, local governments and school districts by providing programming in the areas of board development, strategic planning, public policy analysis and program evaluation.

Roback is also a certified Real Colors facilitator and has co-taught more than 60 staff development workshops to 1,300 people from local governments, nonprofit organizations, school districts and businesses.
