Ozaukee boys still winless this year

The Ozaukee High School boys’ basketball team dropped to 0-5 with a 72-56 nonconference loss at Valders on Dec. 16.

“Valders did exactly what we thought they would do — shoot a ton of three-pointers,” Ozaukee coach Bob Domach said.

“We didn’t close out well, and it hurt us. We had a nice lead early on and didn’t hold on to it.  We are growing as a team and have to get better defensively.  We are giving up 72 points a game and that is too many.”

The Warriors kept it close in the first half and trailed at the break, 37-31, but Valders pulled away in the second half.

Otto Utecht had 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Warriors.

“Otto Utecht has played well for us the last few games. He had a double-double with points and rebounds in the last two games. We look forward to seeing him getting better as the season goes on,” Domach said.

Braydon Lowrance-Eischen scored 13 points. Chase Mills had 11 rebounds and nine points.

Valders was led by Will Sieracki, who had 24 points and 11 rebounds. Lucas Spindler scored 16 points and Carson Wasmer had 11.

The Warriors host Hustisford on Monday, Dec. 30.
