Oostburg wins hoops, CG-Belgium wins everything else

Cedar Grove-Belgium High School fared well despite the girls’ and boys’ basketball teams losing to Oostburg in a doubleheader at home on Feb. 3. The Rockets won the Battle of the Bands — each high school pep band performed — and the Battle of the Cans to collect the most donations for the Cedar Grove food pantry. The band held a brat fry with proceeds going to its trip to Florida. Band director Alanna Ford said the Band Parents Board of Emily Tarter, Jeni Hopeman, Becky Dulmes, Traci Hopeman, Kara Mentch and Kaity Olsen did a great job in planning and organizing the event. Lakeside Pepsi of Sheboygan Falls gave six-packs of Bubbl’r to some of the winning band members, including (above, from left) Grady Ketterhagen, Wes Huenink, Ben Duwell, Nolan Brill and Ethan Brandt. In addition, Randy Kurth won the 50/50 raffle and donated his winnings back to the band and the Rockets won the rock, paper, scissors showdown. Ira Hilbelink, Riley Erickson and London Rulli beat three Oostburg students. Hilbelink was the last man standing.
