Farmers new to no-till planting techniques can learn from experienced farmers at the next Ozaukee County Demonstration Farms Network and Clean Farm Families Field Day to be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19.

The event will be held at the Clean Farm Families Highway 57 Demonstration Plot across from 1671 Beech Lane in the Town of Fredonia.

Topics to be discussed include cover crop specifics for small grains and corn silage; evaluating soil health based on infiltration rates; and demonstrating in-field no-till planting techniques.

No-till planting techniques help reduce runoff, improve soil quality and increase profitability, proponents say.

RSVP deadline is Monday, Sept. 8.

For more information, contact Ozaukee County Land and Water Management Director Andy Holschbach, at 284-8271 or aholschbach@co.ozaukee.wi.us, or Bob Roden at 689-1037.
