No room in the special ed open enrollment inn
Students in special education won’t be allowed to attend the Cedar Grove-Belgium School District through the state’s open enrollment program next year.
Director of Pupil Services Todd Lamb told the School Board last week that special education caseloads will be above the optimal ratio when the 2025-26 school year starts.
He recommended not allowing special education students into the district via open enrollment. The School Board agreed and voted 7-0 to approve his recommendation.
The issue, Lamb said, could be revisited if caseloads decrease, which could occur if special education students move out of the district.
