Nature school may be in county park to stay

Officials with the Sugar Maple Nature School at Hawthorne Hills County Park hope to develop a nature-based playground on the school’s five-acre site that will be open to the public.

It’s one part of the school’s continuing development that may lead to the school making the park its permanent home.

The school wants to use about $100,000 from a state Charter Schools Program Expansion grant to build the natural playground made with logs, stumps, rocks and native vegetation.
