Moonlight Meltdown draws hundreds

The fifth annual Snow Runners LTD Moonlight Meltdown 5 and 10-kilometer races drew 238 runners and others who supported the silent auction and raffle. The 10K men’s winner was Robert Fleuchaus, 45, of Belgium, who finished in 36 minutes, 19 seconds. The 10K women’s winner was Paule Siech, 40, of Sheboygan in 44:11. The 5K men’s winner was Brandon Langer of Sheboygan in 17:39, and the 5K women’s winner was Julie Lanser, 24, of Belgium in 19:28. Proceeds from the event go toward the purchase of an automated external defibrillator for the Belgium Fire Department, which will replace its outdated secondary unit. The AED costs $2,700. Remaining funds will be used to maintain snowmobile trail equipment and trails in Ozaukee and southern Sheboygan counties. The Snow Runners maintain about 70 miles of trails in area communities.
