Mixed-media artist is featured at center

Mixed media artist Carrie Bury is the June artist-in-residence at the Cedarburg Cultural Center

Bury’s practice has centered on taking colors at their peak saturation and playing with different techniques to create vibrant and stimulating compositions.

Her inspiration comes from nature and farmers markets with fresh picked produce and buckets of flowers.

Bury, a Cedarburg resident, began creating art with her mother as a child, and after college began painting bright colors on large canvasses to fill the walls of her apartment.

In 2017, she joined the Cedarburg Artists Guild and in 2021 she participated in her first plein air event in Cedarburg.

She will demonstrate her art from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 1, 7, 14 and 21 and  from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 24, 25 and 28.

Bury will teach a workshop, “Expressive Floral Bouquet,” from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 14.

Participants will paint a big bouquet of live flowers in abstract style, letting their intuition be their guide in interpreting the flowers. The class is full, but anyone who wants to be placed on the wait list may register at (262) 375-3676.
