A Milwaukee man arrested in Saukville on Monday, April 30, learned the hard way that if you’re trying to avoid police, it’s not a good idea to ride in a car without license plates.

According to Saukville police, officers were traveling on East Green Bay Avenue and Market Street at 12:50 a.m. when they saw the vehicle without license plates in front of them.

The driver was identified as a 30-year-old Milwaukee woman, who had three prior convictions for operating without a valid license. The woman was arrested and taken to the Ozaukee County jail.

A passenger in the vehicle, a 26-year-old man from Milwaukee, was wanted on a warrant through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. The man was also arrested and taken to the Ozaukee County jail.

Charges for operating without a valid license are being requested through the Ozaukee County District Attorney’s Office against the woman. She was also cited for non-registration and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

In other incidents reported by police:

Officers were traveling on East Green Bay Avenue and South Mill Street at 8:05 p.m. on Monday, April 30, when they observed the vehicle in front of them had a defective driver’s side tail lamp.

The driver was identified as a 33-year-old Grafton woman, who originally identified herself as someone else to the police.

She was unable to provide her Social Security number to the officers and eventually admitted that she lied because she was scared.

The woman was issued municipal citation for resisting and obstructing an officer, operating after suspension and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
