Miller rejoins Indians, hits first MLB home run
Owen Miller started his second stint with the Cleveland Indians with a bang.
One day after being called up from the Columbus Clippers for the second time this season, Miller clocked his first home run on Saturday, and it came off of a Cy Young Award winner not far from home.
In the fifth inning at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago against the White Sox, Miller smacked a one-out, 79.6 mph change-up on a 2-2 count, according to Major League Baseball.
The ball, with an exit velocity of 101.3 mph, landed directly over the 400 mark painted on the center field wall. The solo shot traveled 416 feet.
It came off Dallas Keuchel, the 2015 Cy Young Award winner and a member of the 2017 world champion Houston Astros.
The Indians needed that run and the other 11 they scored in a 12-11 win.
For the game, Miller was 2-for-4 with an RBI, a walk and two runs scored batting in the seven spot.
While playing second base, he had another career first — he committed an error.
On Sunday, Miller played first base and on Monday he played first and second base.
Miller, a 2015 Ozaukee High School graduate, is hitting .222 in the last three games with the Indians.

Miller’s younger brother Noah, who just graduated in May, was drafted with the final pick in the first round by the Minnesota Twins. He signed and is playing with a Twins’ affiliate in the Florida Complex League.
