Marjorie Adams

Marjorie Jean Adams, age 97, of Port Washington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020.

She was born on Aug. 28, 1923, in North Fond du Lac, Wis., to Gustave and Irene Manthei.

After high school, she earned her degree as a registered nurse from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Oshkosh. She worked at the former St. Alphonsus Hospital in Port Washington on Third South.

On April 27, 1946, she married her high school sweetheart, Edward Clarence Adams, and together raised five daughters: Alice (the late Robert) Lippe, Margaret Adams, Nancy (Paul Clausing) Adams, Janet (the late Michael) Trzecinski and Carol (Jeff) Fritsche.  Their extended family includes eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to raising five daughters and working full-time, Marge loved to garden, knit, crochet, quilt and sew, proudly sewing the wedding dresses for all five of her daughters.

Her creative side also came out in her on-stage performances. She was Port Summer Theatre’s Aunt Eller in “Oklahoma!,” Mae Peterson in “Bye Bye Birdie” and Berthe in “Pippin.”

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Alice and her brother Donald.

Marge’s family would like to thank the staff at Lincoln Village for the kindness and compassion shown to Marge in her final years.

Eernisse Funeral Home of Port Washington is serving the family.
