Marine sanctuary council to seek public input during Port meeting

The Wisconsin Shipwreck Coast National Marine Sanctuary advisory council will meet in Port Washington from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 18.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will provide updates on the sanctuary and hold nominations for the council’s chairman and vice chairman.

Dawn St. George, executive director of the Port Washington Historical Society and a member of the council, will present a  program on a local author’s collaboration with Wisconsin Shipwreck Coast National Marine Sanctuary on an audio walking tour that includes stories of shipwrecks connected to Port Washington.

Public comments will be taken at about 7:50 p.m. Anyone who cannot attend but who wants to offer a comment may send them to  jean.prevo@noaa.gov.

The meeting will be in the Ansay building, 101 E. Grand Ave.
