Marilyn Prom

Marilyn Prom (nee Paulus) of Grafton, formerly of Belgium, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2020. She was 85.
Marilyn was born in Fredonia, Wis., on Jan. 12, 1935, the daughter of Leo and Rose (nee Schanen) Paulus.
On Nov. 5, 1955, she married Gerald Prom at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Fredonia, and together they had five children.
Marilyn was a lifelong devoted Catholic with a deep devotion to our Blessed Mother. Her faith guided her love and care for her family.
She loved spending time with all her family. Whether watching sporting events or teaching them to fish or to golf, she was always smiling when with her family.
Marilyn was fun-loving and carried a youthful exuberance and determination that she could accomplish whatever she set her mind to. She would not let age be an excuse for anything. In fact, as an amazingly strong woman, she never had an excuse for anything. She was truly an inspiration to many about how life can be lived in the positive.
Marilyn was a charter member of the Belgium Legion Auxiliary, holding many leadership positions, including president.
She was a very active volunteer in her church and community including Christian Mothers and St. Vincent de Paul societies, as well as being a longtime member of Hawthorne Honeys golf league. She also served as bookkeeper for the family business, Sharon-Cutwell Co., for over 40 years.
Marilyn was a devoted mother and is survived by her children Jackie (Willie) Perez, Marijo (Paul) Rommelfaenger, Scott (LynnAnn) Prom, Pam (Brian) Huiras and Jeff (Denise) Prom; as well as sister Betty Lanser and brother Rich Paulus.
She was the proud grandmother of 16 and loving great-grandmother of 19.
She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald on March 29, 2015; brothers Donny and Harry; and many dearly beloved brothers and sisters-in-law.
Marilyn will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Mary Parish Cemetery in Lake Church.
Due to the recent order from Gov. Tony Evers, a memorial service will be held at Divine Savior Catholic Parish, Holy Cross Chapel at a future date.
Cards may be sent to the family in care of Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, Wis. 53074.
In this current time of reduced gatherings, parishes are seeing a significant shortfall in needed operating funds. The family greatly appreciates memorial donations and they will be sent to Marilyn’s lifelong spiritual home, Divine Savior Catholic Parish.
Eernisse Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
On-line condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com.
