A 21-year-old man faces multiple charges after a fight outside a Port Washington bar during which a woman who is pregnant with his child was punched and kicked and a man who came to her defense suffered a broken nose.

Jamair D. Ungewitter of Port Washington was charged last week with felony substantial battery, two counts of misdemeanor battery, resisting an officer and disorderly conduct.

According to the criminal complaint filed in Ozaukee County Circuit Court, a woman who said she is pregnant with Ungewitter’s child told police she and a friend went to Rascals bar on West Grand Avenue around midnight Sunday, Dec. 8, to confront Ungewitter about being with another woman.

An argument ensued, and after the three of them stepped out of the bar, Ungewitter began fighting with the pregnant woman’s friend. The pregnant woman said she stepped in to break up the fight and was punched in the mouth and kicked in the groin and her friend was punched, the complaint states.

A man who was in the bar came out when he heard screaming and attempted to hold Ungewitter back. Then another man grabbed Ungewitter, who headbutted him in the face and bit his wrist, drawing blood, according to the complaint. The man suffered a broken nose.

Officers arrived to find Ungewitter being held by two men. When they placed him in handcuffs, Ungewitter resisted and was taken to the ground, where he attempted to dig his fingernails into one of the officer’s hands, the complaint states.

Ungewitter is charged as a repeat offender because of 2018 convictions for criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.

In that case, a woman called authorities to her Town of Belgium home on Sept. 12, 2018, and told them that Ungewitter, who was her boyfriend, grabbed her by the face and pushed her during an argument, then proceeded to trash her home.

The woman is identified in the criminal complaint by the same initials as the pregnant woman in the latest complaint.

Ungewitter pleaded no contest to both of the 2018 charges and was sentenced to jail.

In the case filed last week, Ozaukee County Circuit Judge Paul Malloy set Ungewitter’s bail at $5,000.
