Luna’s Taqueria is slated to reopen in a new location at after operating in its former spot at the corner of Highway LL and Main St. in Belgium for about a year.

Luna’s owners Juan Olvera and Gilbert McLean held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Dec. 9 to celebrate the opening of their new spot at 745 Main St. in Belgium.

The taqueria plans to open its doors for business this Saturday.

McLean said he and Olvera are finalizing the menu and preparing the restaurant for their grand opening in the meantime.

While the location has changed, Luna’s will continue offering the same traditional Mexican dishes that it had previously.

Menu items include mini chimichangas, chicken flautas, tortas, sopes, elotes and fajitas. For dessert, cheesecake, fried ice cream and chocolate flan will be available.

Olvera opened Luna’s at the previous location in July 2020, following his dream of owning his own Mexican restaurant.

The restaurant was named after his mother Mariana Luna and daughter Luna Mariana.

Olvera said he was inspired to enter the restaurant world by his father, who was a restaurant entrepreneur in Mexico, where Olvera lived until moving to the United States when he was 7.

His first job was at Kentucky Fried Chicken when he was 13 and he has fostered a love of the industry ever since.
