Library activities include election forum, book clubs


April events for teens and adults at the Niederkorn Library in Port Washington include an online forum by candidates for the  Port Washington-Saukville School Board, support groups, book club meetings and a tree giveaway.

The online candidate forum, sponsored by the library and the League of Women Voters of Ozaukee County, is available through election day, April 5, on the library’s YouTube channel at

A grief support group will meet from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, in the community room.

The group, facilitated by bereavement coordinator Colson Leach of Compassus Hospice, is free and open to anyone experiencing grief.  

“At the Wolf’s Table” by Rosella Postorino will be the topic for the Friday Morning Book Talk group, which will meet at 9:30 a.m. April 8, in the library’s quiet room.

The group is sponsored by the Port Washington Adult Community Senior Center, but adults of all ages are welcome to attend.

Copies of the book are available to check out at the library.

“April is Raft of Stars” by Andrew J. Graff will be discussed by the library’s book talk group from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 18.

This will be the last meeting of the group until further notice due to staffing changes.

A native tree giveaway will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 23, at the library and 1 to 4 p.m. that day in Upper Lake Park.

The Western Great Lakes Bird and Bat Observatory will be giving out free Bur Oak, Swamp White Oak and Red Oak trees while supplies last.   

The Teen Café for students in grades seven to 12 will be held in the community room  from 2:45 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays, March 29 to May 24.
