LETTERS: Foy and Larson best choices to bring integrity back to court
To Ozaukee Press:
If you love freedom, the opportunity to express that value is on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at your voting location for the nonpartisan primary election.
After regularly reading the Ozaukee Press, it is common knowledge that Circuit Court Judge Joseph Voiland has been a problem for Ozaukee County for quite a while. This election, voters have an opportunity to make a better decision for the next six years.
I have done research and attended candidate forums attended by all four attorney candidates. Two candidates, Angela Foy and Mark Larson, have the right motivation, experience and temperament to bring integrity back to that bench. We can only vote for one, but, if these two make it through to the spring election on April 2, we will then have two excellent choices.
Both Foy and Larson filed to challenge Judge Voiland before he announced that he was not running again. They personally knew of the issues with his court and admirably chose to step up.
The other two candidates have not addressed the problems with Voiland. One, Steve Cain, is Judge Voiland’s endorsed candidate—a good reason not to vote for Cain, in my opinion.
Voting is a right in this democracy that we should all exercise. Voter participation is especially needed in nonpartisan primary elections when there is usually a small turnout.
Contact your municipal clerk to learn where to vote, what will be on your ballot and how to register to vote.
If you haven’t voted in four years, your name might have been purged and would need to register again.
