LETTER: Why is Port Washington an island of higher gas prices?

To Ozaukee Press:

I am having trouble understanding why gas prices in Port Washington and Saukville are not coming down. While I live in Port, I work in Milwaukee where I have seen gas for sale at $2.19. And, if you look at online gas trackers, there are places in the Milwaukee area as low as $1.96. On Monday, Dec. 17, I saw a Port Washington gas station selling it for $2.39.

This past weekend, I went to one of the local Port Washington gas stations and asked about the gas prices. I was told that we are always a little slower for the gas prices to drop, and that all the gas stations in Port Washington are the same price.

Now, I did not drive around town to check all of the gas stations, but it does look to me that this might be the case.
Then I had to run an errand to Grafton, and— guess what?—gas there is $2.19.

Why is this?
