LETTER: Why did Trump lose? Because most Americans don’t like him

To Ozaukee Press:

In response to yet another letter to Ozaukee Press alleging voter fraud in our presidential election, it is clear that there was not any widespread fraud. Every single state, county, town, city and municipality in the country has certified their vote counts and the Electoral College has also decided. Joe Biden beat Donald Trump by a margin of 306 to 232 in electoral votes and by over 7 million popular votes.

It is clear that the only reason so many Republicans believe the false narrative of fraud is that they make the mistake of listening to Trump and his enablers on right-wing talk shows. But Trump has been proven to be a pathological liar and is only using this issue as a way to raise money from his supporters.

In fact, Trump has raised over $200 million since the election. Imagine if these poor Trump fans had donated their hard-earned cash to a food bank or a coats-for-kids drive instead.

But the real underlying issue that drives the Trump supporters to make their unsubstantiated allegations of fraud is that they refuse to admit that Trump was an extremely unpopular president. There are tens of millions of Americans who just don’t like him. Trump does not share our values or our views on the issues confronting America.

And since the election, Trump has shown that he is willing to trash Democracy itself. He wanted to disenfranchise some 20 million voters by literally throwing out all the ballots in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Wisconsin. This was indeed an evil scheme. And many other Republicans were willing to let Trump get away with it.

It is time to put the voter fraud allegations to rest. Biden won this election because that is the will of the American people. We should all be grateful that we live in a country where the people have the power to choose their leaders. It is time to give our full support to President Joe Biden.
