LETTER: Slavery is back—we are all slaves to federal bureaucracy

To Ozaukee Press:

Rather than memorializing June 19, 1865, as Juneteenth, the day emancipation was announced in Texas, we should recognize June 16, the day that Abraham Lincoln made his “A house divided against itself” speech at the Illinois Republican state convention.  This speech, suggesting that a country cannot long survive half slave and half free, ignited a serious Lincoln-derangement-syndrome among Democrats who controlled Washington and helped to trigger the Civil War.
