LETTER: Rahlf is a capable replacement for Brooks, who should resign
To Ozaukee Press:
Robert Brooks (R-Saukville) should step down immediately as our 60th District Assemblyman, as Gov. Scott Walker, a member of his own party, suggested, or he should be voted out of office because of his bigoted comments and drunken behavior as reported by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
He revealed himself as a racist and sexist with comments he made to three female Assembly members at a GOP gathering. He admitted mixing alcohol with drugs and that he was not even able to remember what he said to the women. Another assemblyman had to intervene in the incident.
Wisconsin has an epidemic of binge drinking and drug use and we don’t need leaders who engage in these practices. We need leaders who lead by example and are open-minded and clear-headed.
This episode also reveals Brooks’ hypocrisy, because he was one of the legislators who wanted to force poor people to be drug tested before they could get food through the FoodShare Wisconsin program. Perhaps Brooks should be drug tested before he gets his paycheck.
The hypocrisy doesn’t end there, as Brooks is currently one of the members of a legislative committee proposing to “clarify” the state’s alcohol laws, of all things.
Chris Rahlf is opposing Brooks in the November election. She is a Navy veteran, is married to a 20-year Navy veteran and has two sons currently in the military. She learned her leadership and negotiating skills in the military and as a construction project manager in civilian life for a large Wisconsin contractor. She now has her own construction management company.
Chris has worked with people from all over the world and uses her leadership skills to solve problems across political, racial and religious divides. She will work to ensure economic growth through investing in infrastructure and Wisconsin’s small businesses, and she will work with Democrats and Republicans to ensure that every Wisconsinite has affordable, quality health care.
Let’s get some responsible leadership in our 60th Assembly District by voting for Chris Rahlf.
