LETTER: Port park leaders are doing their best keeping kids active

To Ozaukee Press:

What the Port Washington Recreation Department summer park program offers:

a safe space for your child to socialize, no TV or screen time, games and field trips, led by young adults who chose to be park leaders because they genuinely enjoy the job.

What the park program is not: led by teachers, so don’t expect it to be a low-cost child care substitute for parenting.

If you feel you can do a better job or don’t like how the park leaders do theirs, then feel free to fill out an application. The rec department is doing their best with the staff they have trying to provide the same services that for years have been genuinely appreciated by this community.
