LETTER: Pet-sitter story an inspiration to engage in rewarding work

To Ozaukee Press:

Your delightful Good Living cover story about Stacie Stark and her pet-sitting business pointed out more than her personal success. She is now engaged in work she finds fulfilling, that serves others in a capable manner and provides a livelihood.

This is not the result of a “Now Hiring“ sign promising the best possible work situation and pay, only to find out applicants are offered far less. There was no on-line application with little personal contact: no tone of voice, no eye contact. Yet her job situation seems like a far better than average fit.

Perhaps prospective employers could take a hint from this success story. Every employment opportunity, from manufacturing, to food services, to construction, involves human contact. How can online applications be completely effective? Perhaps this is why job turnover is so common.
