LETTER: Ozaukee County should let its voters have a say on marijuana

To Ozaukee Press:
Eleven Wisconsin Counties may have an advisory, nonbinding referendums on marijuana this November. These counties represent over 40% of Wisconsin population. Milwaukee and Rock counties have already voted in favor of having a marijuana referendum on the Nov. 6 ballot. Nine others (Dane, St Croix, Walworth, Marathon, Brown, Winnebago, La Crosse, Sauk and Langlade) have passed preliminary votes in subcommittees or scheduled votes by their county boards in the coming weeks.
I think Ozaukee County should join these counties and consider holding an advisory referendum on marijuana this November.
The referendum questions range from asking how voters feel towards persons 21 years of age or older using marijuana, whether it should be regulated and taxed similar to tobacco and alcohol, whether it should be allowed for medical use and whether it should remain a criminal activity.
Whether for or against, residents of Ozaukee County should have a voice as well. Please run a story on this issue to bring awareness and push the Ozaukee County Board to vote on holding a marijuana referendum.
