LETTER: Officers violate oaths by not enforcing state mask mandate
To Ozaukee Press:
From what I understand, the oath that law enforcement officers take requires them to enforce orders and laws for the public safety of all.
The spread of Covid-19, according to medical professionals, is easily transmitted by not wearing masks in indoor public places. The number of positive cases in our local community continues to spike, according to the Washington-Ozaukee Health Department.
Why would officers not enforce Wisconsin’s mask-wearing order for the health and safety of our citizens. Is it now the prerogative of local law enforcement to pick and choose what laws they will enforce based on their own beliefs?
As a senior citizen whose risk of serious illness from this horrible pandemic is high, I find it extremely disappointing that our local law enforcement is not interested in protecting me. Senior lives matter.
