LETTER: NFD served Town of Saukville for 40 years, still ready to help

To Ozaukee Press:

The Newburg Fire Department would like to thank our friends and neighbors in the Town of Saukville for allowing us to provide fire protection, inspections and EMS services to the township for the past 40 plus-years.

In the past, Town of Saukville officials negotiated the fire and EMS contract with the Newburg Fire Department to provide protection throughout the township. The contract was subdivided among the Newburg, Waubeka, Saukville and Fredonia fire departments to provide the best services possible in a fiscally sound manner.

This year, the Town of Saukville accepted a proposal from the Village of Saukville to manage the contract and provide it with fire protection and EMS services. The Newburg Fire Department will still be involved, as the new contract assigns the NFD to cover a portion of the Town of Saukville.

Although our response area has been reduced to a smaller section of the town than we have served in the past, Town of Saukville residents and businesses will continue to receive the best care we can provide. We will never stop responding in our designated area or to a mutual aid response when requested. We will continue to do what we have always done, and that is to volunteer our time when our friends, families, neighbors, visitors and businesses in the Town of Saukville are in need.

The men and women of the Newburg Fire Department thank town residents for trusting us through the years to provide firefighting and EMS services, and we hope to keep those relationships.

We also wish the Village of Saukville success in providing fire and EMS protection to the town.

Paul Fahey

Newburg Fire Department
