LETTER: A kindness gives faith that the crisis will bring out best in us
To Ozaukee Press:
Today we opened our last six-pack of toilet paper. We have several boxes of tissues that we can use if it gets to that point, but as our household includes my mother, my husband and our seven young children that won’t last long.
I stopped by the Saukville Walmart, hoping that there might miraculously be some toilet paper on the shelves. Of course, there wasn’t.
As I was heading out, a kind gentleman stopped me and asked if we had enough paper at home. I told him our situation and without hesitation he offered me his own 12-pack.
It’s a funny world today when thoughtlessness about such trivial things can be so harmful and small kindnesses can be so deeply appreciated. I have faith that this crisis will bring out the best in us.
Thank you, anonymous gentleman, and God bless you.
