LETTER: It is clear that health of public not priority of GOP Legislature
To Ozaukee Press:
Now we know what the priority of the Republicans in the state Legislature. It’s not the safety or wellbeing of the residents of Wisconsin, but the fiscal benefit that can be gotten from the federal government.
Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Voss and company want to end Gov. Tony Evers’ emergency health declaration and mask requirement because it might be an overreach of the governor’s authority. This action risks the lives of the citizens of Wisconsin. But now that the Republicans are finding out that the declaration will also risk the millions of dollars of federal aid, there is more concern.
Voss said, “Our job is to guarantee when we pass legislation we know the ramifications are.” It’s OK to risk lives, but not OK to risk federal aid.
