LETTER: As if by magic, mayor turned data center into a done deal

To Ozaukee Press:
Regardless of one’s opinion about the looming data center project, you have to tip your cap to Mayor Ted Neitzke’s skill at maneuvering this beast through the maze of state and local laws, not to mention public opinion.
Months ago, the mayor adeptly convinced the residents,of Port Washington and northern Ozaukee County that the project was in its very early stages and that due diligence would be given at every step of the process.
Before we could fully grasp the implications of the enormous project we suddenly realized it was a done deal and, in fact, had been from the very beginning. The mayor performed like a skilled magician who distracts with one hand while pulling a massive energy and water consuming coin from behind his ear with the other hand.
And this isn’t even taking into account the overwhelming opposition to the data center.
Well played, Mr. Mayor. I would say you have a very bright future in politics.
