LETTER: How to support your library: check out books (they’re free)

To Ozaukee Press:

April is the month we get to celebrate our libraries  and this year’s theme for National Library week is: Find Your Joy!

And that joy is usually just around the corner as our libraries are frequently in the heart of our communities.  In fact, they are the heart of our communities.

Libraries provide our citizens with a variety of joyful opportunities including lending books, story time for children, history presentations, science lessons, poetry readings, music and baking classes, meeting rooms for local organizations, music opportunities and so much more.

How many times have you used your library and paid for the privilege of doing so? If your answer is none, you would be 100% correct. It’s the best value in our communities.

How can the average person ensure that our libraries can continue to create joy? The easiest way to support your local library is by checking out books. The number of books checked out of libraries each year contributes to the formula that our local government uses to fund our libraries. The more we use our libraries, the more robust and exceptional are the services they provide. Make visiting your local library part of your routine.
