LETTER: How did a TV performer force GOP into political extremism?
To Ozaukee Press:
The hate at the Republican Party convention in Milwaukee was palpable:
Women carrying signs proclaiming “Mass Deportations Now.”
James Donald Bowman, also known as James David Hamel, and now known as J. D. Vance voicing support for a national abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest.
Moms for Liberty wanting to ban any and all books that they don’t like.
Trump rambling on and claiming yet again (falsely) that he won the election in 2020.
White supremacists and Christian nationalists voicing their support for a Christian government run by white men, apparently oblivious to the fact that not all Americans are white and Americans practice many religions besides Christianity, including Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, and Judaism.
And then there was Project 2025, a Republican blueprint for a horrifying, dystopian, fascist future America that is no longer a democracy but a dictatorship run by, you guessed it, Donald Trump.
How will a Trump voter explain to is wife, mother, sister, daughter or granddaughter that they voted for a man that has been convicted of sexual assault?
How can you claim to support the police and law and order and then vote for a guy who staged a coup to stay in power illegally and orchestrated a riot at our Capitol in which over 140 police officers were injured? A guy convicted of 34 felony counts?
Will Republicans cheer as Trump’s henchmen round up millions of migrants and put them in concentration camps and then deport them? Will they revel in the human suffering?
How did the Republican party allow a former reality TV performer to take over their party and force it into extreme and unpopular positions?
