LETTER: Here we go again: another biased high court candidate

Here we are, déjà vu all over again.  In spring 2023, we had the Wisconsin Supreme Court contest between Janet Protasiewicz and Dan Kelly. Protasiewicz won, even though voters knew she was biased and had let us know exactly how she would vote even before hearing a Supreme Court case.

     Due to the retirement of Justice Ann Walsh Bradley, the citizens of Wisconsin will be electing a Supreme Court Justice to take her place on April 1. The issues of voter ID and mail-in-ballots, Act 10, abortion, school choice and possibly political redistricting could be up for consideration in the Supreme Court. Front and center in voters’ minds will also be the issues of personal and family safety and the just sentencing of those who have broken Wisconsin laws.

   We knew with Protasiewicz the odds were good a case would be decided not on its merit, but on her already established opinion. Unfortunately, I feel that candidate Susan Crawford will follow the same unprofessional legal pattern.

With Brad Schimel as a Supreme Court justice, the cases brought before the court have a chance to be heard fairly. Schimel knows the safety of Wisconsin citizens is a paramount concern in the minds of voters.

Voters have to live with Protasiewicz on the court till her term is done. Let’s not make the same mistake by electing Crawford. Brad Schimel should be the next Wisconsin Supreme Court justice.
