LETTER: As he served his community, Press kept track of his efforts

To Ozaukee Press:

My wife and I moved from Port Washington to our hometown of Sheboygan two months ago to live with a daughter. At my age of 88, it was time.

I want to thank Ozaukee Press for the great articles about our Port Washington Lions Club and the Port Washington Food Pantry. I thank your reporters for their wonderful help on all the publication requests in the past and, of course, Joe Poirier’s article about my book. Lastly, special thanks to Press photographer Sam Arendt and his dad Vern, whose work I have always admired. I have loved the editorials on the Opinion page, which I felt were always on target on specific issues.

I hope Ozaukee Press continues to set the example of being a great newspaper.

Orville Froh
Sheboygan

Editor’s comment: Mr. Froh gave much to the community in his many years as a resident. A member of the Lions Club for 31 years and once its president, he instituted the club’s annual participation in what he calls “one of my favorite charity acts,” ringing bells outside of stores to invite contributions to the Salvation Army. He was a longtime volunteer worker at the Food Pantry and served on its board of directors. Port Washington will miss him.
