LETTER: He searched and finally found ‘the guy’ praised in a best-seller
To Ozaukee Press:
So in this politically charged and Covid-19 infested time, I went in search of Jesus. In case you have not heard of him, he is the guy spoken of highly in the most sold book ever written. He is God, the savior given to the world of lost sinners, even those who unwittingly reject him.
I was looking for a realistic outdoor nativity scene. I looked at the store with the iconic big red target, but he was missing in action. Down the way at my favorite place with the 11% discount and their competitor that stealthily offers the same deal via the internet, he was nowhere to be found. Even the big daddy of them all that shuts down on Sunday (for some reason) left me hanging out there and lost.
I navigated aisle after aisle through Santa Claus, reindeer, elves, snowmen and beautiful trees adorned with lights, tinsel and ornaments. I was left astounded by the huge inflatable seasonal scenes including Santa peeking out of an outhouse. Nowhere was my Lord.
There is a place out there where they say if you can’t find it here, you don’t need it. And there he was. The perfect outdoor nativity. No glitz. No glitter. No bells or whistles. Simple and serene. A baby wrapped by his mother in swaddling cloth and placed in a manger.
