LETTER: Governor acts like a tyrant in shutting down our churches
To Ozaukee Press:
America is in mourning.
We mourn those who died because of the coronavirus virus which has swept our country.
We also mourn because of the thousands of businesses in Wisconsin that might be forced to close permanently due to the violation of our constitutional rights by a governor who apparently thinks he is God.
We especially mourn the near death our U.S. Constitution is experiencing. On Dec. 15, 1791, our Founding Fathers adopted the first 10 amendments to the Constitution, also known as the Bill of Rights.
These amendments were written to ensure that these were inalienable rights endowed by our Creator, not government.
God himself gave these rights to us.
These inalienable rights are absolute.
The First Amendment says: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise of, or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”
Our Founding Fathers wrote these words just for the times we are now experiencing.
They did not give the government a right to suspend these rights during a time of crisis.
These are my rights given by almighty God at all times.
What gives the governor the right to dictate that I cannot attend my church on Sunday morning to feed my soul but at the same time permit abortion clinics to remain open killing God’s creation?
His decisions are completely arbitrary and capricious. He decides the winners and losers.
What really shocks me is that a vast number of Americans bow to government orders and crawl under a rock hiding from reality.
America, wake up, your freedom is at stake.
If this tyrant governor can shut down our churches and economy now, what else will he do in the future?
He is walking on and spitting on our Constitution. How many millions of Americans gave the ultimate sacrifice, their lives, to defend the Constitution over the last 244 years?
And now we let the Constitution die without a fight?
Thomas Jefferson warned us of these times. He stated “that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government.”
Gov. Evers, read the U.S. Constitution and don’t tread on me.
