LETTER: Facts dispute claims made in letter praising Trump record

To Ozaukee Press:

After reading Kathy Broghammer’s letter to the editor in last week’s Ozaukee Press (“Democrats should be happy with what Trump has done for them”), I reviewed the facts and found the following:
• As reported by Time magazine, the average tax cut per week for most Americans was $20 (not quite a weekly tank of gas), compared to $2,384 per week for the top 1% (about 80 tanks of gas).

• The Center for American Progress states that Wisconsin workers will lose $18.4 million from their paychecks from the regulatory rollback of overtime protections.
• State of the Gender Gap Pay reveals that in 2019 women earned 79 cents for every $1 earned by men, a measure of median salary for all men and women, regardless of job type, seniority, location, industry or years of experience.
• As reported by the Wisconsin Examiner, short-term health care plans are limited, may not cover pre-existing conditions and can result in higher out-of-pocket costs.
• A study provided by the Environmental Protection Agency provided data to the National Bureau of Economic Research, revealing that fine-particulate pollution increased 5.5% between 2016 and 2018, at a cost of 9,700 premature deaths.  • NPR reported a $3.6 million budgetary cut in military-project spending for, yes, a border wall.
• As described in USA Today, ISIS may be diminished, but is still an enduring, formidable threat to America and its allies. Yes, Soleimani was bad, but the 176 individuals, including entire families, scientists, students and children in the Ukraine plane that was shot down were not bad, just collateral damage in the conflict between Trump and Iran.
• Most recently reported from the conflict is that American soldiers suffered  concussions with the possibility of severe, lifelong brain injuries.

These are facts that I found, but the statements in the Broghammer letter appear to have been gleaned from  Fox News.
