LETTER: Everything you need to know about political sign vandals

To Ozaukee Press:
I have been pondering a social and psychological issue that has challenged mankind since the advent of political campaigns. Through a great deal of research and analytical assessment, I have solved the puzzle: People who steal or deface political yard signs are self-centered and  emotionally driven; they lack intellectual capability, have less-than-average verbal skills and are unaware of our God-given right of free speech as stated in the First Amendment.
My hypothesis is supported by the current trends of violent, unlawful protests, shouting down of dissenting political opinions, vulgar attacks on people who wear the wrong T-shirt or hat or attend a rally, reluctance to attach bumper stickers for fear of vandalism, people losing jobs if they express their political beliefs.
The rationalization of dysfunctional immoral behavior is amplified by the force-feeding of politically correct social policies by employers in the entertainment and retail service industry.
It doesn’t surprise me that many political sign thieves and vandals walk with their head held high with confidence. They are delusional in their belief that they are acting appropriately while ignoring the law and the First Amendment, and propagating behavior they claim to be fighting against.
