LETTER: Covid has shown us that our schools are home to heroes
To Ozaukee Press:
According to Wikipedia, a hero (or heroine) is someone who “in the face of danger, combats adversity through feats of ingenuity, courage or strength.”
In many ways, Covid has opened our grateful eyes to the many quiet heroes we have in our midst. On behalf of Ozaukee County Area Retired Educators, we wish to commend all current educator-heroes for their determination and commitment to finding ways to educate, challenge and support our children, whether in-person or virtually, and we wish to acknowledge their compelling and extraordinary efforts.
Educators are working with tenacity and sacrifice to meet not only their students’ academic needs, but social and emotional needs as well, all while navigating the unrelenting and ever changing challenges related to the pandemic.
We, as fellow (retired) educators understand, value and appreciate their calling beyond words. We thank them for all that they do.
Heroes, with ingenuity, courage and strength, work at schools too.
