LETTER: City taxpayers should not have to put up with another TIF project

The proposed Pier Street Landing apartment building.
To Ozaukee Press:
Here we go again. A developer is asking the City of Port Washington for taxpayer money in the form of a request for a $2.6 million TIF.
Might I point out that there is nothing blighted about the location for the proposed Pier Street Landing apartment building just west of Franklin Street that would justify the use of tax incremental financing.
The developer can pay the $2.6 million and recoup it with higher rent. The renters will get to live in the beautiful City of Port Washington and taxpayers won’t have to wait for the development’s valuation go on the tax rolls.
