LETTER: Citizens who defy authority should suffer consequences
To Ozaukee Press:
We too often hear from our media reporters that law enforcement persons had to chase lawbreakers who refuse to stop. A stop order should be enough for one committing a crime to stop.
Just recently, we know of a citizen who decides to break a tail light on a vehicle of an authority he does not like and continues to do more harm. Such a criminal should assume the consequences for what made him not stop.
Our law enforcement people are dedicated and chosen by us to do their work.
They are part of us. Sure, mistakes may be made. However, those choosing not to stop for law enforcement need no protection. Protecting lawless citizens is pointless, expensive and very divisional when supported by protesters.
Those who decide not to stop need no protection. I don’t feel sorry for those who break the law and suffer consequences.
