Letter carriers to Stamp Out hunger

Local residents are being asked to put out bags of nonperishable food by their mailboxes this Saturday, May 10, for the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers.

Each year, letter carriers across the country head out on their routes on the second Saturday in May to collect donations of nonperishable food items to benefit local food pantries. 

Since launching in 1993, the NALC’s annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive has grown into the nation’s largest one-day food drive, helping to fill the shelves of food banks in cities and towns throughout the United States.

Food collected by local letter carriers will go to local food pantries, including Family Sharing in Grafton, Ozaukee Food Alliance in Saukville and the Port Washington Food Pantry.

Residents are asked to simply leave their donation of nonperishable food in a bag near their mailbox this Saturday and their letter carrier will make sure it’s taken to the local food pantry.
